Rambling Ruins
The Rambling Ruins is named after the stone ruins that dot the vineyards throughout the Adelaide Hills where grapes for this wine are grown. Rather than demolish these ruins, vineyards are always carefully planted around these ancient outbuildings of early Adelaide Hills settlements. We imagine that if these ruins could talk, they would ramble on for hours about all they had seen from those earliest times. The best vineyards are planted in sandy loam over red clay, quartzite, shale and often ironstone which allow the vineyard roots to drain optimally and impart excellent minerality to the wine. These and other sedimentary rocks in the soil were used to build these ruinous, yet still beautiful structures. The wine expresses the unique nature of these elevated vineyards, showing the flavours of the soil in its textural minerality and fresh pear, apple and spice. Be sure to enjoy a ramble with friends or family as you take pleasure in this wine and raise a glass to all beautiful - both old and new, and the Rambling Ruins of the Adelaide Hills!
